Has Your GP Told You to Stop Chiropractic?
Why Some GPs Still Misunderstand Chiropractic care
It’s important to acknowledge the reality that when most GPs advise patient's to stop Chiropractic, its often is because of an opinion that they as individuals have about the profession. This advise is almost never because of specific concerns based on an examination, imaging interpretation, research or clinical history and just general advise due to a lack of education.
Like all healthcare professionals, GPs form opinions based on:
- A Small Number of Patient Experiences
- Stories Passed On by Others or Social Media Videos
- Outdated Medical School Training
If a practitioner has experiences that negative, it’s reasonable for them to generalise and become cautious, its human nature. The issue is not the intention. The issue is a lack of exposure to a professional Chiropractic approach and understanding.
Global Judgements vs Chiropractic Adjusting to Health
The problem arises when those global judgements are applied to all Chiropractic care, without distinction between:
- Clinics That Follow Structured, Evidence-Informed Systems
- Clinics That Do Not Examine, Re-Test, or Measure Outcomes
From the outside, these can look the same. In reality, they are very different.
This is why many GPs initially hold reservations about Chiropractic, until they see it done properly.
What Happens When GPs See Our Process
Once GPs understand how we practise at Adjusting to Health, their perspective often changes quickly.
When they see:
- Our Health Blueprint™ Process
- Our Thorough Neurological and Orthopaedic Assessments
- Our Clear Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria
- Our Ongoing Re-Examinations and Progress Exams
They realise this is not what they expected.
That’s why many medical practices across our local area now refer to us weekly, and why we continue to receive new GP referrals every month. Not because we are “Chiropractors”, but because we are safe, structured, and appropriate.
Why This Matters for You
If your GP has advised against Chiropractic in the past, it does not mean they are acting with poor intent.
It usually means they have:
- Seen Chiropractic Done Poorly
- Been Exposed to Unsafe or Non-Evidence-Based Examples
- Never Seen a Structured Chiropractic Care Model
Once they learn how our Health Blueprint™ Process works, most GPs understand exactly why patients
get better here and why our results differ from what they’ve seen elsewhere.
A Collaborative Approach
We actively educate and communicate with GPs every quarter.
We welcome:
- Professional Dialogue
- Sharing of Research and Outcomes
- Collaborative Patient Care
This is how trust is built. This is why referrals follow.
If your GP has questions, we are always happy to explain what makes our approach different and why effective, evidence-informed Chiropractic has an important role in patient care when delivered properly.
